October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, helps to increase attention and support for the awareness of the breast cancer, the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the second most common cancer overall. There were over 2 million new cases in 2018, according to World Cancer Research Fund International.

According to Corrine Ellsworth Beaumont, the founder of the nonprofit organisation, Worldwide Breast Cancer, one-third of cancer deaths worldwide could be avoided through education and screening. The survival rate is nearly 100% if the breast cancer is detected at the early stage. This is why being able to spot a symptom of breast cancer at the beginning is very important.

In view of the importance of early detection, Worldwide Breast Cancer initiated “Know Your Lemons” campaign, uses powerful lemon visuals to educate woman about breast cancer symptoms, risk factors and detection options. These little lemons overcome taboo, fear and literacy issues and allow a better communication and education of breast cancer.

Titled “What Breast Cancer Looks & Feels Like”, Know Your Lemons Campaign with the help of a dozen lemons, shows some of the lesser known physical signs of breast cancer such as bumps, skin erosions and dimpling and also details of the symptoms.
