When turned over, it begins a new diffusion cycle lasting around an hour. An hour for you : the diptyque hour. Thanks to its unique cold-diffusion process – based on the principles of gravity and capillarity – the hourglass preserves the fragrances’ authentic nature. It slowly releases wafts of scent into the room.
With a lifespan of around three months (it’s refillable too!), though its best for scenting small spaces of less than 20 sq. meters, it can also be used to create lightly perfumed ambiances in larger rooms since its scent diffuses in an area of three to four meters around the hourglass. To optimize the diffusion of the fragrance, place your hourglass near a point of natural convection (window, fireplace, fan, etc.) that opens into the room.
A long glass form adorned with a perforated gilded metal sheath. Servaire & Co, a creative accomplice to diptyque, has given shape to this inventive design inspired by the swirls of an incense burner and the brand’s signature oval shape. Although each of the two transparent glass vessels features subtle variations, they both have the same final touch : a rounded, convex bottom, an inverted teardrop shape receiving the descending perfume. The interplay of shapes and geometry, the effects of asymmetry and collectability in the six fragrances : this is the diptyque spirit.
The sablier is made of coloured glass of green, yellow, orange or smoky black, a different hue for each scent such as Roses, Fleur d’oranger (Orange blossom), Baies (Berries), Gingembre (Ginger), Figuier (Fig tree), and 34 boulevard Saint-Germain.
