What happens to luggage after its journey ends? For Samsonite, it is the beginning of something new.
On 13 October, the travel brand unveiled a meaningful sustainability initiative at Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK), turning 90 pieces of pre-loved luggage into colourful, custom-made furniture for children at the community centre.

In collaboration with Precious Plastic, selected luggage components were upcycled into 10 unique furniture sets, including collapsible tables, stackable chairs and a chess set. Designed with the children’s needs in mind, the pieces bring fresh colour and creativity into their everyday spaces.

There is also a personal touch. The children contributed an artwork titled Tree of Hope, expressing their aspirations and hopes for the future. The tables can even double as framed artwork when not in use, blending function with creative expression.
The launch also featured a hands-on recycling workshop led by Precious Plastic founder Yoong Yi. Children and guests transformed used plastic into personalised luggage tags, bringing the idea of upcycling to life.

More than a furniture makeover, the initiative reflects how sustainability can create meaningful community impact. It also builds on Samsonite’s annual Luggage Trade-In Campaign, encouraging travellers to give their old luggage a new purpose.
