From a modest storefront in A Coruña to a global fashion powerhouse, ZARA celebrates a remarkable 50-year journey that has redefined style, speed, and accessibility in fashion. Since opening its first store on May 9, 1975, the Spanish brand under Inditex has grown into an international icon, known for its dynamic collections and customer-first philosophy.
To commemorate this golden milestone, ZARA launches a multifaceted celebration encompassing a global fashion film, an exclusive collection, and a historic tribute installation in the city where it all began.
50 Years, 50 Icons: A Steven Meisel Masterpiece
In a never-before-seen collaboration, legendary photographer Steven Meisel directs a breathtaking fashion film titled “50 Years, 50 Icons.” Featuring a stunning lineup of 50 supermodels, including Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Twiggy, the campaign is a vivid tribute to the brand’s enduring creativity and influence. The models perform Donna Summer’s 1977 hit “I Feel Love” in a visual spectacle that premiered globally on May 9, 2025—exactly five decades after Zara’s first store opened.
Curated by Marta Ortega Pérez, Chair of Inditex, the campaign reflects a deep reverence for the artistic spirit behind Zara’s success. “Creativity is the heart of Zara,” she shared. “This campaign is a testament to everything our teams have built—energy, innovation, and above all, magic.”
The limited-edition collection featured in the film is now available for Malaysian shoppers on zara.com/my.
A Coruña Store Becomes Living Museum of Zara’s Legacy
ZARA’s original store on Calle Juan Flórez in A Coruña has been temporarily transformed into a one-of-a-kind installation to honour its roots. The store now features design elements inspired by the city’s famed seafront galerías architecture and houses a curated selection of anniversary-exclusive pieces.
Visitors can also enjoy a pop-up café and boutique lounge, complete with a nostalgic library of fashion, art, and culture magazines published since May 1975. The installation not only showcases Zara’s fashion evolution but also pays tribute to the heritage of Galicia and the brand’s birthplace.
Global Reach, Local Connection
With a presence in 98 physical markets and 214 online markets, Zara continues to blend local insight with global trends. A team of over 300 designers and commercial staff works in real time to respond to fashion movements, supported by agile production and tech-integrated retail spaces.
Zara’s seamless integration of brick-and-mortar stores with digital platforms ensures customers—from Kuala Lumpur to New York—experience fashion that is fast, thoughtful, and timeless.
