Polaroid Eyewear introduces its latest Heritage collection, a unique project that brings together capsule collections from different eras, starring original pieces revisited in line with the latest trends and retraces the brand’s history, from the 1930s to today. Each collection features timeless silhouettes reinterpreted with a contemporary twist, embodying an aesthetic that goes beyond fashion trends.

Visionary scientist and founding father of Polaroid, Edwin Land changed the way we see the world when he invented the first synthetic polarizing filter. This breakthrough invention is still the basis of all polarized eyewear, photo lenses and screens manufactured today.

Sophisticated and unique, clip-ons make a comeback in the collection: the new PLD 6045/S acetate model features a rectangular shape and comes in three colorways – white, black, and red. The front bears the original wording “press,” which indicated where on the frame one needed to apply pressure to attach the clip-on to the glasses, while the original metal mount detail is also still visible on the front.

The PLD 6048/S and PLD 6049/S metal sunglasses are a contemporary take on clip-ons. The first features a pilot shape, while the latter a squared design, but they both bear the original “Press” detail on the lenses and metal hook on the front.

The PLD 6046/S and PLD 6047/S acetate models are another evolution of clip- ons, reinterpreted with an easy-to-wear attitude, yet staying true to the original “Press” detail on the lenses. The PLD 6047/S model features a squared design while the PLD 6046/S can be described as a softly rounded shape.

These five iconic sunglasses celebrate the acclaimed innovation skills of prolific inventor Edwin Land: a man who was always gazing into the future, embracing a vision that has defied time, and still inspires millions of people. Among them, Safilo Group’s Milan Design Studio creatives who retraced Polaroid’s history to condense 80 years of timeless style into the brand’s new capsule collections, reinterpreting epoch- making models to give life to highly collectible sunglasses that are a symbol of authentic craftsmanship.

All Heritage collection sunglasses come with UltraSightTM lenses for perfect glare-free vision, enhanced contrast, reduction of eye fatigue, and 100% UV ray protection.
