With a healthy lifestyle and habits – such as limiting alcohol, staying physically active, you need to know what can you do to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Although there are some risk factors such as family history can’t be changed, there are lifestyle changes you can make to lower your risk.

# 1 Be physically active


Exercise is the best way to stay healthy and prevent the risk of diseases. Women who are physically active for at least 30 minutes in a day can lower the risk of breast cancer. Start from tomorrow, wake up earlier to go for a morning run or hit the gym room after work.

# 2 Eat fruits and vegetables


A healthy diet is a key to lower the risk of breast cancer. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and avoid fried food. Leafy green vegetables, berries, fresh herbs and spices, nuts and seeds are the cancer-fighting foods that you need to consume it as much as you can.

# 3 Control your weight


Being overweight or obese increases the risk of breast cancer while maintaining a healthy weight is an important goal for everyone. For those who are in premenopausal, do take a good care of your health not to overweight as it will increase the cancer risk.

# 4 Breastfeed your babies

According to some studies, it has shown a link between breastfeeding and a lower risk of developing breast cancer. This is because when our bodies are more exposed to oestrogen, it has the greater risk of breast cancer. The longer you breastfeed, the greater the protective effect.

# 5 Limit alcohol intake


The more alcohol you drink, the greater the risk of developing breast cancer. While moderate drinking can be good for the heart in older adults, you need to keep alcohol at moderate levels or lower. Limit yourself to less than 1 drink per day as even small amounts increase risk.
