In today’s era, burnout is nothing new. Signs and symptoms of burnout include loss of interest in your work, feeling incapable of staying focus, and consistent feeling of exhaustion.

Burnout can happen to anyone. The widespread culture of workaholic-ism at workplaces nowadays is also one of the elements that results in making employees anxious and stress.

If it does happen to you, here are four things you can do to bounce back stronger.

1. Create more time to think

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to slip into autopilot mode.

We’re not robots, we can’t work non-stop.

To stay ahead of the competition, you need new ideas. Create more time to think is basically to create “white space” in your lives that you could fill with new ideas.

Whatever it is that helps you think, do it every day. This could be walking away from your desk and finding some place where you could find 30 minutes to get away from everything. If the weather permits, slip into a pair of comfortable shoes and get outside for some fresh air.

2. Do something you love outside of your work

Simply put, have a hobby. Everyone has a passion—you just haven’t discovered yours yet.

If you’re not liking the idea of picking up a hobby just to occupy your days off, try to think of something that makes you forget about the stresses and worries of your day.

3. Get organised

A disorganised work environment is often confused with job stress. It usually stems from being ‘all over the place’. Technological advancements have helped many to stay on track. Use a calendar app to schedule your appointment. Finance apps such as AndroMoney and Spending Tracker are useful in tracking your expenses.

4. Figure out when enough is enough

Work can be challenging for everyone, and we all occasionally feel fatigued after a long day at the workplace, but if you’re going through burnout very often and can lead it back to the same thing each time, this may be a sign that it’s time to leave.

Choose happiness. Life is too short for you to get good at what you don’t want to be doing.
