Not long ago, the popular Vietnamese chain restaurant from Singapore, Pho Street, opened its first branch in Malaysia. Located at LG floor of Paradigm Mall, Pho Street is a quick service restaurant with a vibrant dining ambience, serving traditional Vietnamese food and targeting to reignite the Vietnamese food culture in Malaysia by highlighting the vibrancy of Vietnamese cuisine.

Pho Street features Vietnamese street food in a restaurant setting, with cozy dim lighting to make you feel at ease. The small interior features the usual narrower tables and stools (as what you will often see along the streets in Vietnam) but it was still roomy and spacious enough. Apart from that, waiters were pretty attentive too.

We started with a fresh glass of Lemon Cooler with Peppermint & Basil (RM7.90). The drink is refreshing, perfect after a hot day outside. It tasted unique and was able to keep me from feeling thirsty.

Passion Fruit and Basil Mojito (RM7.90) is also refreshing but sweater compared to the previous drink, you might prefer this if you are into sugary drinks.

Now, on to the appetizer.

Pho Street’s Fresh Summer Rolls with Prawn, Pork Belly & Fresh Herbs (RM8.90) truly made me felt I was in Vietnam. The rice skin’s thinness was perfect, not too thin and not too thick. It had lavish amounts of vegetables, rice noodles, pork belly and fresh prawns. This appetizer was complemented with a flavourful peanut sauce which adds to the simplicity of the rolls.

Sesame Rice Crackers with Fragrant Minced Meat and Spices Dip (RM14.90) also known as bánh tráng mè, is yet another distinctive snack on the restaurant’s menu. These rice crackers are made out of rice flour and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Served with fragrant minced meat as a dipping sauce, this appetizer is definitely a must try in Pho Street.

Another variant of Bánh Tráng (without sesame) is served with Salad of Crunchy Green Mango, Prawns, Pork Belly & Crushed Peanuts (RM17.90).

The unwritten rule of dining at a Vietnamese restaurant is that you have to order Pho. I ordered the Pho Beef Combination (RM18.90), which comes with beef slices, balls, shank, tendon and tripe. According to the staff, the broth has been boiled for long hours to extract the natural goodness of marrow-rich beef bones. The soup was jam packed with beef flavour and the beef tasted wonderfully tender and spongy.

Besides that, we also ordered a bowl of Dry Rice Vermicelli with Roasted Pork Chop and Spring Roll (RM16.90). It is loaded with crisp veggies, pickled and reddish with sweet and sour sauce. Mix all the ingredients, and eat it with the juicy, tender and tasty pork, yumm, heaven in my mouth.

dry vermicelliPho Street’s menu also has a special western kick to it! Bánh Mì Combination (RM11.90) stuffed with pork belly, grilled beef, chicken ham and a ton of Vietnamese chillies. All meats are bursting with flavours! This sandwich is crunchy on the outside, soft and meaty filling on the inside.bahnmi

We finished our Vietnamese feast with this Cream of Mung Bean with Coconut Sauce & Crushed Peanuts (RM7.90). Thick and milky, this Vietnamese dessert is the perfect way to end your indulgence at Pho Street. It is topped with crushed peanuts and contains water chestnuts, green beans fresh coconut sauce and banana essence.

Overall, whether you are into Vietnamese cuisine or not, Pho Street is a must try restaurant. Listed below is the operating hours and address of Pho Street.
