Once you step into the airport and on your way home, you realise what a moment you had after travelling to different parts of the world. You have mixed emotions which consist of a sense of accomplishment and anxiety. You feel that you should be rewarded for your courage to quit your job and travel the world, but all you have left is an emptied bank account.

Few days later you will start to feel the pressure to get your life back together as now you can’t fly off to another land. You are consistently bombarded with social media updates of your peers. You start to compare yourself to other people and their new accomplishments while you are sitting on your sofa, unemployed with amazing memories of the past that is now gone for good.

Your loved ones are advising you to go look for a new job and the reality begins to hit you right on your face. It is pretty messed up but it is the risk you decided to take when you bought that one-way ticket to your “worry-free zone”.

So what the heck you do now?

The cold hard feeling of lost and hopeless is something you can’t avoid. It may seem that everyone have their life in order expect for you. However, one thing you have that they don’t is time. Embrace your freedom while you still have it. Use the time to your advantage, do some soul-searching and come up with plans for your future and a better life.

I bet you decided to quit your job to fly away because you were either burned out or lost your happiness with the life you were living. Now that you travelled the world and ended back home, you should not feel down in the dumps. Instead, you should feel confident for the future to come by mentally focusing on these four things.

Remember that this stage of your life is temporary

This is just a short-lived period in your life, and although you may feel confused and lost hope in working life or life in general, you are experiencing hardship and undergoing change for the better. You are in this stage of life to grow and develop as an amazing individual, so keep things in perspective. Don’t get too high or low during this period.

Don’t regret your decision

Yes, you made the decision to plummet your bank accounts to travel the world, but now you will never wonder what it is like taking a one way ticket outside your office cubicle. Leaving no stones unturned is more valuable than extra cash in your pockets you would’ve earned.

Appreciate Life, Every day, All The Time

Now that you are back home, and somewhat back to square one, you should express your deepest gratitude towards all those simple things in your life and realise how blessed and privilege you truly are. Appreciate your food on your plate, loved ones, WiFi, experience, and most importantly your health.

Ask yourself “What Do I Want”

You are restarting your life with an amazing travelling portfolio. Remove anything negative in your life and focus on what you want.

Instead of jumping back into the job market immediately, focus on exploring your passions and reinventing yourself while changing your life direction for the better. This is crucial because once you jumped back into the working life, you won’t have time for all of these.

Focus on building yourself and establish a new direction for the better of your life. Soon enough, you will be on feet and stronger than ever before, ready to fill in the next chapter of your amazing life.
