But first, who are AXIS-Y and why do they have Halal-certified facemasks?
AXIS-Y is the first creator in the industry to create a personalized climate-inspired skincare. Climate is a big factor that affects our skin as we face changes due to pollution, stress or even the weather! That’s why AXIS-Y has created several products with a focus of solving skin problems for different climates.
One of their most successful creations was The 6+1+1 Line, created specially for tropical climate skin using natural and effective ingredients.
In this 6+1+1 Line, AXIS-Y Halal Certified Duo Set was created to support global communities in the struggle against COVID-19. And the brand received incredible reaction as their Mugwort Wash Off Pack went viral throughout social media. So, of course we had to test it out! 😉 Check out our honest review here!
So why do they have Halal-certified facemasks?
As seen on their website and socials, community is a huge factor in their brand. There is a growing support for the brand from the Muslim community that need Halal skincare products, especially here in Malaysia. AXIS-Y has been listening closely to our Malaysian community and they have answered with these amazing products certified Halal.
More than just Halal!
AXIS-Y has been taking over Southeast Asia due to the 6+1+1 series targeted towards climate change. 6 base ingredients are selected from plant extracts that deliver skin benefits according to climate. 1 core ingredient solves the target skin problem safely and efficiently. Finally, 1 effective technology is used to deliver quality ingredients and results.
The AXIS-Y Halal Duo Set is a worthy skincare combo in its own right. Formulated from a combination of beneficial ingredients, these masks are suitable for all skin types, especially those with uneven texture.
A common ingredient seen in the 2 products is mugwort. It soothes, calms, and cleanses the skin while boosting it with antioxidants. Heartleaf is also a common ingredient which soothes the skin, increasing promotion and regeneration of skin cells.
Now let’s break down what each mask does!
The Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack clears pores of impurities, brightens and soothes the skin. Ingredients used in this product are:
- Adzuki beans: Gently removes dead skin cells.
- Artichoke: Prevents skin aging through antioxidant properties.
- Heartleaf: Increases promotion and regeneration of skin cells.
- Kelp: Revitalizes and nourishes rough and irritated skin.
- Lotus: Regenerates and controls sebum, makes dull skin clear and bright.
- Mung bean: Moisturizes and brightens skin, improves texture and strengthens the skin barrier.
- Mugwort: The core ingredient that protects skin from harmful oxygen. It soothes and cleanses the skin.
This product can be used every 2 to 3 days.
The New Skin Resolution Gel Mask is also great for those who have sensitive skin or acne-prone skin. Heartleaf repairs and soothes dull, irritated skin while 2% Niacinamide brightens and evens skin tone leaving the skin with a cooling and hydrating effect. Other ingredients include:
- Allantoin: Protects skin barrier from water loss.
- Centella asiatica: Heals and soothes the skin.
- Fig: Regenerates skin and maintains moisture.
- Mugwort: Soothes and calms the skin while giving it a boost of antioxidants.
- Yam root: Encourages rejuvenation and reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation.
This Gel Mask, however, can be used every day!
Why are most skincare products not Halal?
The term “Halal” can not only be applied to food but also applicable to pharmaceuticals and cosmetics which can be a symbol of quality assurance.
Generally, halal ingredients come from plants, aquatic organisms, minerals, compounds, and microorganisms that do not present a potential harmful effect to the human body.
However, there are some complications when it comes to cosmetic ingredients passing halal verification. For example, moisturizers and creams containing dairy can be considered as haram because of the enzymes and microorganisms used to process the dairy product.
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) must be from a halal source. Some common GMO ingredients seen in cosmetics are starches, oils and other agriculturally derived plant ingredients.
Halal certification is important not only because it is approved by Islamic Methodology Institution, but also because it is more environmentally friendly and uses sustainable ingredients.
