If you’ve been to J&D Espresso’s first outpost at Damansara then you’ll be glad to know they’ve opened their second outlet right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, on the 7th floor of Pavilion Elite.

Whether you’re coming from inside or outside of the mall, there are entrances on both sides which make it convenient to enter J&D Espresso, Pavilion Elite. You’re either drawn in by the wood exterior or the marble entryway. For us, it was the marble entryway.

From the aboriginal printed pillows to the wholesome bacon-tastic menu and bloody good coffee, it shows that J&D Espresso took inspiration from the cafe scenes in Australia. It’s a cozy escape from the busy scenes from the mall with its dark, sleek furnishing, marble walls and good music softly playing in the background.

Their freshly made dishes are something else too, especially if you love bacon and brunch fare.

First, their motto, “Bloody Good Coffee!” is true. The coffee is bloody good. We had the cappuccino and latte, where both cuppas was brewed to perfection with the right amount of milk and aromatic coffee.

One of J&D Espresso’s unique dishes is the Oyster & Spinach Gratin In Baguette. Fresh oysters sauteed with spinach are found underneath the melted cheese in this baguette, with a side serving of herbed fries and salad. The cheese was not overly rich and with the housemade tomato sauce which has just the right amount of tartness, each bite was tastefully balanced. The fresh baguette was easy to cut through with the knife as well.

Would you look at that cheese? The amount of spinach found inside would make Popeye proud too.

Another stand out dish is the Aussie With An Egg Pizza, said to be an Australian’s favourite pizza as it has pork bacon, cheddar & mozzarella cheese & a farm fresh egg. Not only it looks amazing, the crunchy crust with the crispy bacon paired well with the gooey cheese mix and egg. We couldn’t stop ourselves after one slice.

Fans of Aglio E Olio pasta, you’ll like the Scallops & Bacon Linguine Aglio E Olio pasta, think seared fresh scallops on top of spiced al dente linguine cooked with generous amounts of pork bacon pieces.

The number of spices used was balanced as it was not too salty and oily.

Fluffy pancakes layered with herbed stir-fried spinach, mushrooms, pork bacon slices and, topped with a perfectly poached egg and drizzled with maple syrup, that’s the Bacon & Egg Pancakes. The salty and sweet combo with the nicely done pancakes has become our comfort food. Can we have this for breakfast every day?
