Jimmy’s roast duck is no stranger to Chua Lan, the international celebrity food critic. About 10 years ago, he visited Jimmy’s restaurant at Selayang and make Jimmy’s restaurant a pit stop in his culinary itinerary for his paid foodie clientele. Two years later, Chua Lan recommends Jimmy to Tan Sri Francis Yeoh to open a stall to sell his roast duck at Lot 10 Hutong.

What makes Jimmy’s roast duck so special? It is cooked with a recipe handed down by his grandmother, Ong Po Po. Jimmy recalls many fond memories of watching Ong Po Po prepared the duck for roasting, especially the process of filling the duck with air and helping his grandmother in the kitchen since his tender young age.

It is no surprise that we must try the roast duck since it is the signature of Roast Duckking. We tried Half Roasted Duck (RM46), which Jimmy told us that each whole roast duck is about 2.7kg-2.8kg. He then marinates and leaves it overnight for the full flavor. The roast duck was roast to perfection as it is not overcooked, and we like the duck skin with duck breast that is so delicious.

If you are a fan of Honey Char Siew and Roasted Pork, order this B.B.Q 2 Combo (RM28) that give you a choice to choose two meat on your own. We tried the Honey Char Siew and Roasted Pork together with rice, it was so sinful yet we can’t stop ourself from eating it. The Honey Char Siew was not overly sweet yet not too salty, just right for our palate.

We continue with Drumstick 1/4 Special Poach Chicken (RM29) as we are still feeling hungry and craving for more. The Poach Chicken was rather suitable for people who like to eat food with heavy taste as it is full of flavors and saltiness.

Last but not least, this is one of the must-try items which has a portion of noodles and BBQ meat of your choice. The BBQ 2 Combo Noodle (RM17) are very big portion that you might want to share with your friends or family. The combination of roast duck breast and honey char siew with noodles were just amazing, it was nicely-cooked with a big portion.

Verdict

On the whole, the food was pretty good. We highly recommend the Honey Char Siew and Roast Duck. Do order a portion of BBQ 2 Combo Noodle!
