From June 21 to 24, Seongsu-dong in Seoul transforms into a poetic beachscape as Sun & Sea, the globally acclaimed opera that won the Golden Lion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, stages its first-ever Korean performance — exclusively presented by TAMBURINS.
Set in an immersive beach-inspired installation, Sun & Sea weaves ordinary moments of vacationers into hauntingly beautiful musical monologues and choral harmonies. Viewers observe the looping performance from above, evoking the gaze of the sun itself. With its unique format and fluid audience rotation, each experience is as ephemeral and vivid as a summer memory.
This multidisciplinary masterpiece, created by Lithuanian talents Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė, and Lina Lapelytė, blurs the lines between theatre, installation, and concert. Guests attending the Seoul performance will also enjoy exclusive gifts, including a mini sand ball and a 2ml preview of TAMBURINS’ upcoming summer fragrance.
Reservations — open to both domestic and international audiences — are now live via TAMBURINS’ official website. Entry is free, secured by a refundable deposit, and limited to one ticket per person. Attendees can explore the show from different perspectives across the venue, while a pop-up featuring the brand’s new summer scent adds an unexpected olfactory dimension.
