Fresh Events Asia, in collaboration with the Malaysia Towerrunning Association, is proud to announce The Sky Race — a thrilling vertical challenge that will take place on Saturday, 30th August 2025, at Merdeka 118, the tallest building in Southeast Asia.
The Sky Race offers a unique opportunity to climb all 118 floors and ascend a staggering 2,845 stairs to Level 118, a level never before accessible to the public. This extraordinary event promises to deliver an unmatched experience with panoramic views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, making it a must-do for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and those eager to check off a bucket-list item.
Timed to coincide with the Merdeka Day weekend, The Sky Race serves as a tribute to Malaysia’s national pride and progress. As participants ascend the tower, they’ll symbolically connect with the nation’s journey of growth and achievement. At the summit, participants will be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking photo moments in Kuala Lumpur.
Adding to the excitement, Soh Wai Ching, a world champion in tower running, has been appointed as the official ambassador for the event. Soh will lead pre-event training sessions to provide participants with expert insights and motivation ahead of the race. The event is sanctioned by the Malaysia Towerrunning Association, ensuring a professionally organized and internationally recognized competition.
The Sky Race at Merdeka 118 is set to join the ranks of renowned tower races such as the Empire State Building Run-Up and Shanghai Tower International Vertical Marathon. With aspirations to become a premier global tower race, this inaugural event will put Malaysia on the map as a key destination for international vertical challenges.
Registration for The Sky Race is now open, with tickets priced at RM159 for single entry and RM449 for a team of three participants. The event includes a run pack with exclusive items, access to the Event Village and Expo, and an E-certificate and timing results for all finishers. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top five finishes in both the Men’s and Women’s categories. Register here now to be part of The Sky Race and celebrate Malaysia’s Independence Day from new heights!
This historic event is made possible with the support of the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and charity partner Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK), which works to protect the rights of children and youth in Malaysia.
