MODA Ushers in a New Era with Cyrus Chin at the Helm

The newly elected committee of MODA for 2025–2026

Malaysian fashion is stepping into a bold new era. At the MODA Next Chapter event held at Sheraton Petaling Jaya on August 28th, the Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA) unveiled its newly elected committee for 2025–2026, led by its newly appointed President, Cyrus Chin.

With over three decades of championing local designers, MODA is now anchored by three new guiding pillars — Elevate, Evolve, Empower — a manifesto that reflects both continuity and reinvention for the nation’s fashion landscape.

“MODA has always been about community, collaboration, and creativity. With Elevate, Evolve, and Empower, we are strengthening the bonds within our industry while preparing Malaysian fashion for the global stage,” shared Cyrus Chin in his first address as President.

A Bold Vision for Fashion in Malaysia

The three new pillars capture MODA’s renewed purpose:

  • Elevate — Amplifying Malaysian designers, strengthening visibility, and opening doors to international opportunities.
  • Evolve — Embracing digital transformation, sustainability, and innovation to keep pace with the ever-changing fashion landscape.
  • Empower — Supporting both emerging and established designers with mentorship, platforms, and resources to thrive collectively.

Celebrating Unity, Creativity, and Connection

From Style Your Way MODA Bazaar to KL Fashion Week collaborations, MODA has already been reconnecting its creative community. At the same time, the launch of a revamped digital hub signals a stronger push to stay connected and accessible in the digital era.

The highlight of this new chapter will be MODA PRESENTS: ELEVATION 2025, a three-day fashion festival at Starhill Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur this October. With the theme “Design the Future, Walk the Now”, the event will celebrate origins, spotlight present relevance, and showcase bold visions for tomorrow — alongside runway shows, talks, and mentorship sessions.

October will also see the debut of the LEGO Botanicals Fashion Show, a first in Asia, where MODA designers transform LEGO’s iconic Botanicals line into couture-inspired creativity, as well as the return of Style Your Way MODA Bazaar 2.0 and participation in regional festivals.

Under Cyrus Chin’s leadership, MODA is not just writing the next chapter but reshaping the story of Malaysian fashion — one that unites tradition and innovation, celebrates local talent, and pushes boundaries on the global stage.
