Farewell to Giorgio Armani: The Visionary of Timeless Elegance Who Leaves Behind a Lasting Fashion Empire

The fashion world mourns the loss of a legend. Giorgio Armani, founder and creative force of the Armani Group, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was 91.

Affectionately known as Il Signor Armani by colleagues and collaborators, the designer remained indefatigable to the very end, working until his final days. His dedication to the house he built was unwavering — from collections and future projects to nurturing the values that defined his empire.

For more than five decades, Armani shaped a vision of elegance that transcended fashion, influencing lifestyle, design, and culture. With clarity, pragmatism, and relentless curiosity, he anticipated trends and created timeless silhouettes that changed the course of modern fashion.

His legacy was not only creative but human. Armani was deeply committed to his community, particularly to Milan, the city he called home. His ability to connect with people, combined with his independence of thought and action, made him a revered figure far beyond the runway.

In a statement, the Armani Group said:
“In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”

The funeral chamber will be held at the Armani/Teatro in Milan on September 6–7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In accordance with Armani’s wishes, the funeral itself will remain private.

As the world says farewell, Giorgio Armani’s spirit of independence, timeless elegance, and humanity ensures that his influence will remain eternal.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Giorgio Armani.
