On 18 and 19 November 2025, Kuala Lumpur witnessed an enchanting fusion of ballet and haute couture as the Paris Opera Junior Ballet, supported by CHANEL, graced the stage of Dewan Filharmonik Petronas for its first Asian tour.
The highlight of the program was Julian Nicosia’s “Eternal Rift”, a piece that explored the tension between strength and vulnerability. CHANEL’s bespoke costumes elevated the performance – black unitards with delicate golden wheat embroidery shimmered with each movement, oversized coats draped like shadows, and pared-down tank-and-trouser looks revealed the dancers’ raw emotion. Each silhouette mirrored the ballet’s journey from concealment to openness—a visual metaphor for fragility transforming into resilience.
Complementing this premiere were timeless works from the Junior Ballet repertoire, performed alongside Paris Opera Ballet Étoiles Roxane Stojanov and Sae Eun Park, Premier Danseur Francesco Mura, and Sujet Antonio Conforti. Highlights included George Balanchine’s Allegro brillante, Jean-Guillaume Bart’s À la manière de…, the Giselle Act II pas de deux, and José Martinez’s Mi Favorita, leaving the audience captivated by both technique and emotion.
The experience extended beyond the stage. Public classes and interactive workshops invited local students and ballet enthusiasts to step into the dancers’ world, reflecting the Junior Ballet’s mission of cultural exchange and mentorship.

Through these moments, CHANEL’s support became more than patronage—it became a bridge, connecting young artists and audiences, inspiring the next generation of dancers.
