Summer is all about the hottest months of the year with lots of foods. While people happily feasting at all the BBQ’s this season, they are unaware that these food could lead to teeth staining and discolouration.

Celeb Dentist Dr. Victoria Veytsman who is the official dentist to The Miss America pageant and gives supermodels Karlie Kloss and Hailey Baldwin their dazzling smile shared with Pamper what to avoid this summer.

1. Dark Berries. While they are full of antioxidants and healthy, dark berries can stain porous teeth. Be sure to wipe teeth with a tissue and rinse after eating to minimize stains. There are even wine wipes and white wipes that work to remove the stains and brighten after eating/drinking dark colored foods.

2. Chlorine. Alright. Chlorine isn’t exactly something you’d eat. Unfortunately, chlorine is unavoidable in a swimming pool. If you swim for hours each week, you could end up with spots called “swimmer’s calculus.” The high pH of the chemicals in the pool water causes proteins to harden into a dark brown tartar. Professional whitening is required.

4. Citrus Fruits. Lemons, oranges and grapefruits are highly acidic and can cause discoloration because they can erode tooth enamel. There are many products that support enamel from toothpastes to mouthwashes. While enamel erosion can’t be undone, you can prevent.
