Dark circles can be hereditary, but not always. In fact for the most part dark under eye circles are the result of lifestyle habits. Worry not, there are many ways to remove dark circles, without using eye cream. Here are the five things you can do to eliminate dark circle.

1. Get enough sleep. This is a no-brainer but inadequate sleep results in dark circles under the eyes. Try going to bed and wake up at the same time every day. By the third night of doing so, it should get easier. Keep that going and you’ll start seeing results.

2. Replace your morning coffee with tea. For many, the work day starts with coffee. But in the long term it can lead to adrenal exhaustion, meaning “a chronic feeling of mild physical and emotional depletion that can follow a period or episode of intense stress”.  Green tea has a bit of natural caffeine, but it’s much lower than coffee and left you with a more stable, less buzzy energy boost after drinking it.

3. Drink more water. The most cliche advice ever: hydrate yourself by drinking lot of water. Drinking plenty of water helps reduce dark circles as water helps to purge toxins from the blood which help your skin glowing and clear.

4. Cucumber mask. Place a couple of slices over your eyelids. The science behind it is that they act as a cold and hydrating compress, causing blood vessels to constrict, so swelling is temporarily reduced around eyes.

5. Eliminate refined sugar from your diet. Although diet doesn’t usually play a direct role in dark circles, certain foods can aid skin health. This seemingly small change helps to decrease inflammation in the entire body including the skin. Your eyes will look clearer than they have in years, and all your dark circles will be gone.
