As conversations around skin barrier health continue to dominate the beauty industry, CeraVe is bringing its expertise beyond moisturisers and cleansers into one of skincare’s most essential categories: sun protection.
The dermatologist-developed brand recently unveiled its first-ever range of ceramide-based sunscreens in Malaysia through an interactive public launch at Sunway Pyramid, followed by a sun-soaked afternoon experience at Sunway Lagoon. Designed to demonstrate how effective UV protection and skin barrier care can work hand in hand, the event invited guests to discover a new generation of sunscreen formulated for daily wear in Malaysia’s hot and humid climate.
Why Skin Barrier Protection Matters More Than Ever
For years, sunscreen has largely been associated with preventing sunburn and premature ageing. Today, however, skincare consumers are increasingly looking for formulas that do more than shield against UV rays. The growing focus on skin barrier repair has shifted expectations, with many seeking products that can protect, hydrate and strengthen skin simultaneously.
This is where CeraVe’s latest innovation comes in.
Built around the brand’s signature three essential ceramides and patented MVE Technology, the new sunscreen range adopts what CeraVe describes as a “barrier-first” approach. The formulas are developed to provide broad-spectrum UV protection while helping maintain the skin’s natural protective barrier and supporting long-lasting hydration throughout the day.

Speaking at the launch, Natalie Goh, Marketing Director at L’Oréal Malaysia, highlighted the brand’s commitment to creating sunscreens that consumers genuinely enjoy using every day.
“Long-term skin health begins with products that make people feel confident, and we have set out to create SPF innovations that can be holistically incorporated into their daily routines,” she shared.
Putting CeraVe’s New Sunscreens to the Test

The launch transformed Sunway Pyramid’s Orange Atrium into an educational skincare playground, where visitors could explore various testing stations designed to visualise the effects of UV exposure and understand the role of skin barrier protection.
Among the most popular attractions were the UV Camera Scanner and Experiment Counters, which allowed attendees to see sunscreen performance up close while learning more about everyday sun protection habits.

The new collection comprises three products tailored to different preferences and skin needs:
- Invisible Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 50+
- Invisible Dry Touch Fluid Sunscreen SPF 50+
- Invisible Hydrating Fluid Sunscreen SPF 50
All three formulas feature lightweight textures developed specifically for warm and humid environments, addressing one of the most common complaints among sunscreen users in Southeast Asia.
Expert Insights on Ceramides and Daily Sun Care

Adding a professional perspective to the conversation, Consultant Dermatologist Dr Goh Siew Wen joined celebrity guest Shalma Ainaa for a discussion on common sunscreen misconceptions and the importance of maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
According to Dr Goh, ceramides offer benefits that extend beyond moisturisation.
“Apart from shielding from UV rays, incorporating ceramides into a daily skincare regimen aids in repairing and addressing various skin concerns, including dry, sensitive and acne-prone skin,” she explained.
Her insights reinforced a growing dermatological consensus that supporting the skin barrier is fundamental to overall skin health, particularly in climates where heat, humidity and environmental stressors can challenge the skin daily.
Taking Sun Protection Beyond the Mall
The experience extended beyond the retail environment through CeraVe’s partnership with Sunway Lagoon, where visitors were encouraged to put the products to the ultimate test under real outdoor conditions.
At Surf Beach, guests participated in games, collected exclusive merchandise and redeemed Watsons vouchers while experiencing the sunscreens during outdoor activities. The activation concluded with a lively DJ performance at the Wave Pool, reinforcing the campaign’s message that sun protection should seamlessly fit into everyday lifestyles rather than feel like a skincare chore.

For consumers who struggle to find sunscreens that feel comfortable in tropical weather or who are navigating concerns such as dryness, sensitivity and compromised skin barriers, the new range presents an approach that feels particularly timely. By combining broad-spectrum SPF protection with ceramide-focused skincare technology, CeraVe is positioning sunscreen not as a standalone step, but as an integral part of a complete skin health routine.
Discover the new ceramide-based sunscreens at CeraVe booth at Surf Beach in Sunway Lagoon throughout the whole month of June or at Watsons and Gurdian, and online via Lazada and Shopee.
