Trends come and go and it’s often a struggle to try and predict what’s coming next. Which is why we often think the best way to treat yourself is to buy what you love and desire – not what is in-trend, because that may fade.

Although, it’s always interesting to read about what’s the next biggest trend based on what we see on runways, and what we see were growing trends at the end of each season. Here are a few that we’ve pulled from various beauty experts!

Check it out.

1. Glitter is your new friend

We’ve already done a post on this – don’t be afraid of glitter, especially when it comes to your makeup looks. Read more here. <once live>

On allure.com, “It’s going to be less of a trend and more of a necessity. It’s just something that every woman is going to be getting into in some way, shape, or form. We see it on nails and hair on social media, but it’s going to make its way to the average woman, because I see normal women who don’t usually play with makeup squealing when they see glitter.” —Huda Kattan, the founder of Huda Beauty

2. I’m BLUE

Shades of blue seem to be all the craze at NY Fashion Week and and the look shows no sign of slowing down. From a painterly stroke of pigment to a thin electric rimming of pencil, the new blue is, above all, wearable.

3. Short crops, and we mean super short

After Charlize Theron pulled of the amazing look in the Mad Max film, super-short cuts showed up everywhere, from model Kris Gottschalk’s shaved head to Zendaya’s faux pixie at the BET Awards. Next stop, the street.

4. Metallic lips (or anything that makes a statement)

When Lupita Nyong’o appeared on the Star Wars red carpet this month with a metallic blue lip— it signaled that unconventional colors might soon be anything but. Go for gold, or shiny shades in any colour you might be able to imagine.

5. Braids are back

Forget about the braids you knew when you were a kid, one of each side of your head. Do the single braid and look tres chic! It’s sleek and stylish.

6. Natural simplicity is the way to go

Gone are the days of overly made up and loud make up looks. Keep it simple and allow your real beauty to shine through! We hope to see more of this in 2016 because we’re pretty much over the whole “perfect” look and think anything that makes a person is character.

According to allure.com, “Women will become more comfortable with a more neutral and tonal palette with their makeup by choosing colors that enhance their features versus manipulating them. I think women will move away from the unnatural standards that are ever present on social media and gravitate toward looking fresher and naturally sexy.” —Robert Greene, a makeup artist who works with Tinashe

7. Let your curls be free

I need to definitely start appreciating mine more. I love sleek straight hair but I wasn’t blessed with it – but that’s ok because I realise my curls are pretty nice too. Ladies, don’t shy away from them. Let them be free and shine in all its curly glory.

On allure.com, “I think there is a move toward individualism going on now, which I love, as it has always been a big part of my beauty philosophy. This means people will be embracing their natural hair texture and making the most of what makes them special.” —Gavin Harwin, a hairstylist who has worked with Lorde

8. Are bangs ever out of fashion?

We think not.

9. Fit is the new sexy

Think about how more of us are becoming health conscious and more aware of what we are doing to our bodies. The new sexy isn’t the “I starve myself” look. No, it’s the “I love my body and I have an amazing figure thanks to how fit I am”. Think athletic, think strong, think fit!
