The world week of Italian cuisine has finally arrived! The Extraordinary Italian Taste proudly presents the award-winning Star Chef Roberto Dal Seno, as he brings a modern interpretation of Italian culinary tradition, the ‘Italian Street Food’ for us in the heart of the city, Kuala Lumpur.

In conjunction with The World Week of Italian Cuisine’s second edition, a series of dinner pairings took place from 20th to 26th in November 2017. We had the chance to enjoy an evening of undeniable gourmet food prepared by Chef Roberto, a professionally-trained Italian Star Chef and Culinary instructor with expertise in authentic Italian cuisine. Now an Executive Chef at Hotel Excelsior in Venice, he has received Starwood’s ‘Dinner-Around’ award as the Best Cuisine in the area.

With the aim to promote Italian culinary traditions and food-and-wine connoisseurship as a distinctive trait of Italian identity and culture, this unique culinary experience was accompanied by a free flow of wines and sponsored by Paolo Lazzaroni and Vinicola Consoli (alcoholic) and Bosca Toselli (non-alcoholic).

We had the chance to try a lot of a different kind of starter prepared by chef which include housemade ‘focaccia’ stuffed with stracchino cheese, fresh marinated sardine served with sour onion, raisin, peanuts and extra virgin olive oil, ratatouille of fresh vegetables, served in light tomato sauce, mint and capers, fry sage filled with ricotta cheese and lemon, fried breadcrumb marinated pork loin served with honey and rosemary sauce and crispy homemade bread served with cherry tomato, basil, burrata cheese and san Daniel prosciutto. Our favourite definitely goes to fry sage filled with ricotta cheese and lemon as the lemon gives the freshness to the ricotta cheese while the crispy fry sage is complimenting the cheese as well.

40On top of that, there is Carnaroli rice served with ‘BRA’ fresh sausage, saffron and aged parmesan cheese and small gnochetti served with pork ragout.23

For the main course, we had a plate of delicious pork which includes of stuffed pork belly, pork ribs marinated with paprika and mint and pork “Zampone” served with braised lentils, spinach and pork jus grass.

We definitely enjoy the Italian ‘street food’ served in a fine dining style while pairing it with a glass of good wine.
