Keeping Up with Fitness at Home during #FMCO

Our health is the utmost priority when typical routines are disrupted. It takes creativity to maintain fitness goals, especially during the lockdown. To add a little spice to at-home workouts, Under Armour has rounded up some fitness tips because the only way through this #FMCO and emerge stronger is through strength at the end of the day.

For some of us, at-home workouts are something we start to master due to the pandemic. Many of us don’t necessarily have the time or environment to get outside for a socially distant run or walk. You can still get a good workout from home by following three simple tips:

1. Setting a step goal

We can make the most of our current situation and build habits we can easily follow for the long haul by using the MapMyRun app to set personalized training plans to help you reach your fitness goals and dynamically adapt to your progress.

2. Moving as much as possible

Many of us are spending more and more time sitting and watching TV, working at the computer, and being on Zoom meetings. But even when you’re working at home, you can still find ways to incorporate more movement into your day. Any time you take a call, move around for the duration. This can be a walk around the block or just around your house. If you have stairs you can walk up and down those as long as you trust yourself not to trip!

3. Adding bodyweight movements while walking in place

Walking in place for 30 minutes at a time or heading up the same flight of stairs can be a bit boring. One way to up the calorie burn and keep things a bit more interesting is to alternate your steps with a few different bodyweight exercises. Lunges, push-ups, squats, butt kickers or sidekicks are a few different options to try. This circuit-type workout is great for getting your steps in and toning the rest of your body.

Dedicating time in your routine for movement and working up a sweat each day is a great way to get blood flow circulating. Under Armour’s performance gear UA RUSH and UA Recover uses Celliant technology to promote blood flow by just wearing it. It uses a mineral-infused fabric designed to enhance performance, giving athletes that extra edge recycling the body’s energy during workouts. This recycled energy increases temporary localized circulation, promoting improved performance, power and recovery. It’s essential to implement a variety of intensity, master the movements and keep moving.
