Since we spend most of our time inside our house, <strong>indoor air quality\u00a0and cleanliness<\/strong> are important to\u00a0ensure we have a relaxing stay and a healthier home.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0an Indoor Wellness Survey by <strong>Nippon Paint Malaysia<\/strong> conducted last year showed that 60% of surveyed Malaysians (or 6 out of every 10 respondents) have poor indoor air quality. With this regard,\u00a0Nippon Paint Malaysia launched their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nipponpaint.com.my\/indoorwellness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Indoor Wellness Programme<\/a> in 2019, and\u00a0teamed up with <em><strong>Dr Rajbans, President of the Malaysian Wellness Society<\/strong><\/em>, to educate the public on the importance of indoor wellness and the necessary steps to improve the overall air wellness at home to minimise or eliminate indoor pollutants.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some suggested <strong>preventive measures you can take to maintain a safe and healthy indoor environment<\/strong> during this critical time in your spaces at home:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Keep the area clean by practicing these tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vacuum and mop twice a week or more<\/li>\n<li>Opt for coatings with anti-bacterial properties<\/li>\n<li>Install air purifiers with a High-Efficiency Particulate Air filter to better eliminate dust<\/li>\n<li>Air out new furniture that may contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) particles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Here are some tips to keep the area clean:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep the walls and floors clean at least twice a week<\/li>\n<li>Invest in exhaust fans to reduce humidity in the area<\/li>\n<li>Store toiletries in an enclosed space<\/li>\n<li>Carry out regular plumbing checks to avoid water leakages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>4. Quick tips include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mop the kitchen floor daily with warm soapy water to ensure the surfaces are clean<\/li>\n<li>Install smoke or exhaust fans for better ventilation<\/li>\n<li>Clear garbage daily to eliminate bacterial growth<\/li>\n<li>Choose coatings with good washability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The public needs to understand that Environmental\u00a0Wellness is an important dimension within the Wellness Wheel, which comprises of 7 dimensions related to individual\u2019s overall health and wellness &#8211; <strong>emotional, intellectual, physical, social, environmental, financial, and spiritual<\/strong>. All dimensions are interconnected and plays an important role in achieving a well-rounded, holistic and balanced lifestyle. Many tend to overlook Indoor wellness due to its \u2018almost invisible\u2019 nature.
