A progestin is a synthetic, or artificial form of progesterone. The FDA has concluded that birth control pills containing drospirenone may have the higher risk of blood clots than pills containing other progestins.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Side Effects of the Birth Control Pill<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>If you are taking contraception to treat acne, there are some of the pill\u2019s side effects that should be taken into consideration. Some normal side effects of birth control pills include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nausea, vomiting<\/li>\n<li>Stomach cramps<\/li>\n<li>Bloating<\/li>\n<li>Mood swings and depression<\/li>\n<li>Change in your weight (weight gain, weight loss)<\/li>\n<li>Changes in your periods<\/li>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Breast tenderness<\/li>\n<li>Fainting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some dangerous side effects of birth control include deep vein thrombosis, <a href=\"https:\/\/hellodoktor.com\/health-centre\/hypertension-health-center\/drug-safety-hypertension\" target=\"_blank\">hypertension<\/a> (high blood pressure), liver and gallbladder disease.
