Hong-Kong based singer-songwriter and the 30-Hour Famine 2018 Ambassador, G.E.M. has launched officially World Vision Malaysia\u2019s 30-Hour Famine 2018 held at Empire Hotel, Subang\u00a0last week. According to\u00a0G.E.M., she\u00a0hope to use her\u00a0role and influence as an artiste to aspire more Malaysians to come together and make a difference for children in need.<\/p>\n

World Vision\u2019s 30-Hour Famine 2018 Ambassador G.E.M. (left) received a token of appreciation from World Vision Malaysia\u2019s Head of Public Engagement Arthur Chan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The 2018 30-Hour Famine carries the theme \u201cYou & I, Rise Up for Children.\u201d The event is expected to attract 27,000 campers nationwide. World Vision Malaysia hopes to raise RM2.6 million through the event which will be channelled to combat food insecurity and malnutrition issues in India, Lesotho, Malaysia and Myanmar.<\/p>\n

In Malaysia, the funds will also be used for World Vision Malaysia\u2019s community development work in Sabah, Beautiful Gate Foundation for the Disabled, Dignity for Children Foundation, Good Shepherd Services, Fugee School, Yayasan Sin Chew and Dual Blessing.<\/p>\n

They will be used to help the disabled communities with education and training, provide refugee communities with healthcare awareness programmes, and give marginalised children access to quality education and building a sustainable community in rural Malaysia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

As World Vision Malaysia\u2019s 30-Hour Famine Ambassador, G.E.M. also visited the NGO\u2019s community development work in Sabah yesterday where she saw for herself the work that is being done among the rural communities in Malaysia. She also had the opportunity to interact with the locals and find out more about their daily lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
