While it may seem harmless,\u00a0binge-watching could be\u00a0hurting your health.<\/p>\n<p>Here are five ways how binge-watching TV show could be bad for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. It wrecks your sleep.<\/strong> Nowadays with the culture of the Netflix and Hulu all-nighter, watching TV show\u00a0before bed is standard in many homes. As a result you&#8217;re more likely to stay up late during a TV marathon. By staying up late, you&#8217;re stressing your body a lot which leads to to poorer sleep quality and more fatigue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0Binge-watching affects your eating habits.\u00a0<\/strong>Those who watch a lot of TV are more likely to sit in the same spot and don&#8217;t get enough exercise. On top of that,\u00a0that binge-watching can lead to mindless eating, thereby consuming hundreds more unnecessary and damaging calories.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12780\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12780\" style=\"width: 1536px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12780\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/o-SOCIAL-TV-facebook.jpg\" alt=\"Young woman watching television, rear view\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1042\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12780\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image: Shutterstock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0Watching\u00a0too much of TV\u00a0dumbs you.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0A <a href=\"http:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapsychiatry\/fullarticle\/2471270#Conclusions\" target=\"_blank\">2016 research<\/a> has also suggested a connection between binge viewing and intelligence. Watch too much of TV (more than 3 hours per day)\u00a0with poorer performance in cognitive tests \u2014 an effect that was almost doubled when TV viewing was paired with low physical activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Binge viewing may be sign of depression.\u00a0<\/strong>According to a study carried out by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2015\/01\/150129094341.htm\" target=\"_blank\">University of Texas<\/a>, the more lonely and\u00a0depressed\u00a0people were, the more likely they were to\u00a0binge-watch\u00a0TV. The study found that those who feel more depressed tend to watch more programs.\u00a0That&#8217;s\u00a0not to say binge viewing is the source of loneliness and depression, though it&#8217;s certainly a social pastime.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00a0Marathon TV sessions could shorten your life.\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/28514265\" target=\"_blank\">A study published in 2017 by Australian researchers<\/a> found that those who watched TV between 2\u00a0to four 4 hours\u00a0a day had a 54% higher risk of an inflammatory-related death, and those who watched more than 4\u00a0hours a day had double the risk of dying than those who watched for 2\u00a0hours.
