Founded in San Francisco in 2011 by Malaysian, Ronald Chew, Nerdunit has garnered a cult following the moment it made its mark in South East Asia and now the world. With more than 17 retailers worldwide, runway stints of KL Fashion Week 2016 and this year’s KLFW RTW 2017<\/a>, as well as in countless international media, Nerdunit is not your ordinary streetwear brand, it’s a lifestyle.<\/p>\n

From graffiti words scattered throughout the Emblem Camo print, Ronald takes us through on their latest FW 2017 Emblem Camo collection and their inception into the Japanese streetwear scene.<\/p>\n

1. What is the inspiration for the Emblem Camo collection?<\/h4>\n

This year, we put the focus of the collection on our very first camo print which we have been working on for a long time to get the right design, taking inspiration from our emblem and the World War II.<\/p>\n

2. How long did it take for you and your team to complete this collection?<\/h4>\n

Including myself, we’re a team of 5 and the camo print itself took us about 8 months to get it right because of the new silhouettes\u00a0we brought in such as the bunny ears hoodies and bunny bag.<\/p>\n

3. After seeing the collection on KLFW RTW 2017, we noticed that\u00a0you incorporated rabbit ears and a rabbit bag too as part of the design, what does the rabbit symbolize?<\/h4>\n

The rabbit symbolizes the rebels, ‘We’re the ones that your parents warned about’. We want you to feel rebellious when you put on the rabbit ears hoodie.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Do you have designs for the ladies too from the Emblem Camo collection?<\/h4>\n

Yes, we definitely have something for the ladies but we didn’t get to show it on the runway but in general our clothes are unisex so the ladies can rock it too.<\/p>\n

5. When is your new collection arriving in stores?<\/h4>\n

We’re launching the collection during our Pop-Up in Shibuya, Tokyo first on 1st September (it’s happening right now! Head to their Facebook for more details.) which is going to be our debut in Japan streetwear scene.<\/p>\n

We have also engaged with some famous Japanese artists, models and influencers who embodies Nerdunit to spread the word about our debut.<\/p>\n
