Vetiver, a common ingredient used in most men’s perfumes takes the center stage in diptyque’s new Vetyverio Eau de Parfum. But it’s not the first time diptyque has paid homage to vetiver, the brand released an Eau de Toilette in 2010 and now with the Eau de Parfum, Haitian vetiver is used in high concentrations, revealing an intense yet extraordinary delicateness. Blurring its\u00a0perspective as men\u2019s or women\u2019s fragrance.<\/p>\n

Known to be as precious as gold in Haiti, diptyque and the cultivators have waited a year for the vetiver roots to reach the optimal length of one meter, at which point they are harvested by hand.<\/p>\n

\"Diptyque'sLocals refer to this harvesting as \u201cransacking\u201d the roots from the ground. Bundles of them are then transported to the distillery, where vetiver will again make us wait.<\/p>\n

\"Diptyque'sIt will very slowly distill its essence over 24 hours, the time it takes to extract the golden scented oil.<\/p>\n

\"Diptyque'sdiptyque will invest in this community-assistance project with support from Givaudan, focused on this essence over the long term, committing to buying certified organic, ESR vetiver essence sourced from plots of land in three villages\u2014Massey, Faucault and Bazelais\u2014to use in its Vetyverio\u00a0Eau de Parfum. The project will help ensure the longevity of the supply chain of this very special vetiver which is so essential to the island of Haiti. Its roots can grow up to three meters long, extending deep down in the loose earth which stabilize the island\u2019s volcanic soil, slowing down its erosion. In return, the mineral rich soil gives this vetiver its aromatic complexity, fiery temperament and delicacy for an irresistibly smoky, sophisticated signature.<\/p>\n

\"Diptyque'sHaitian vetiver\u2019s roots resemble threads in different shades of blond like angel hair with a divine fragrance, different than the rough, earthy scents, found in vetiver grown elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\"Diptyque'sFor the Vetyverio Eau de Parfum, diptyque has taken a radically opposite approach to vetiver.\u00a0Like inlaid wood, this vetiver reveals unexpected facets: sometimes fresh, other times smoky or even subtly floral. With its bitterness and citrusy inflections, grapefruit accentuates the natural freshness of the woody notes. While, patchouli underscores the smoky, spicy notes of the vetiver and Turkish rose shakes up this verticality for a wonderful disorienting effect driven by the sensuality and gentle floralcy of this olfactory accident. It gives this vetiver a new accord of flowers and wood.<\/p>\n
