Microsoft will bring down the curtain on Microsoft Paint with the upcoming release of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It was reported that MS Paint\u00a0will be eventually removed from the core group of bundled Windows applications.<\/p>\n

However, Microsoft played down any rumours in a statement<\/a>. The company has now said that they won’t kill the software, noting that MS Paint will be removed to the Windows app store as free download.<\/p>\n

“Today, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint. If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans,” Microsoft posted in a blog post.\u00a0“If there\u2019s anything we learned, it\u2019s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans. It\u2019s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app.”<\/p>\n

MS Paint has been a staple of the Windows operating system. First\u00a0released in 1985 with the first version of Windows 1.0, the software has been installed with every version of Windows since. The tool lets users easily copy and paste, crop and colour images, or simply doodle and create drawings.<\/p>\n

The blog post also talked about the spinoff drawing app\u00a0dubbed Paint 3D.\u00a0Moving forward, Paint 3D will come installed on current and future versions of Windows.<\/p>\n

Paint 3D offers many of the same features, it said, as well as new ones that will continue to be added with time.<\/p>\n
