Skin care brand Aesop hosted an evening of conversation centered around “The Art of Tailoring” as part of their collaboration with local label Shuren Projects at Aesop Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday.<\/p>\n

Led by Shuren Projects founders, the talk explored the history of the label, the art of tailoring, the modern take on minimalism and the craftsmanship that goes behind the making of menswear. The ethos of the brand lies in its focus on utility, the wearability of material and the ideal fit for Asians. The label takes inspiration from oriental and Japanese elements to produce unstructured pieces like the Noragi, a key piece from their previous collection.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Their latest collection, “Portraits In Olive” fuses urban utilitarian aesthetic with smart detailing such as key ring, numerous pockets and survival whistle in shades of olive. The safari-meets-rugged-formality designs are translated into mandarin collar shirt, jacket, casual shorts, short sleeve button down shirt and a long pants.<\/p>\n

To the team at Shuren Projects, comfort and wearability goes a long way which is why they road test the pieces themselves before releasing it to the public. When it comes to material, it is important that the textile used not only looks good yet feels equally good and passes the quality test where it wears well even after frequent wash. Fabric like linen is chosen as it is wonderfully lightweight, breathable and delicate to the skin. Cutting patterns are based on Asians fit which can also be personalize to custom sizes to cater to different build.<\/p>\n
