In support of this year’s World Environment Day 2017 on June 5 with\u00a0themed “Connecting People to Nature”, Botaneco Garden,a hair and body care brands,is in collaboration with the Malaysian Nature Society, on\u00a0a \u2018Plant A Seed, Grow A Forest\u2019 campaign.\u00a0The campaign will see one percent (1%) of all Botaneco Garden products sold from Guardian Stores Nationwide\u00a0<\/span>throughout the month of June channelled to the Malaysian Nature Society\u2019s mangrove reforestation efforts in Kuala Selangor.<\/p>\n

The Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) is Malaysia\u2019s largest and oldest non-government environmental organisation that focuses to conserve Malaysia\u2019s diverse habitats, protecting the nation\u2019s natural heritage especially ecologically sensitive landscapes. Mangrove forests are classified as ecologically sensitive landscapes.<\/p>\n

Mangroves present many intrinsic benefits to the ecosystem. They provide shelter and food for aquatic and marine animals, and migratory shorebirds, serve as a deterrent to storm surges, tides and currents, reduce water pollution and prevent soil erosion in coastal communities.<\/p>\n

The Kuala Selangor Nature Park, is home to 150 species of birds, small animals, fish, amphibians, and reptiles such as Smooth Otters, Silvered Leaf-monkeys, Long-tailed Macaques and more. However, illegal mangrove extraction has put this habitat at risk, and reforestation is necessary.<\/p>\n
