Burberry is reintroducing its tropical gabardine fabric to a collection of reimagined single and double breasted trench coats for men and women and unisex car coats.<\/p>\n

The Burberry trenchcoat was originally created to protect officers from wind and rain, now the Burberry trench coat has evolved over 100 years to become an icon, representing timeless British style and design innovation, worn across the globe.<\/p>\n

Made in Castleford, a town in the north of England, by expert workers who combine traditional techniques with modern technological developments. More than 100 highly skilled processes are completed to make each individual trench coat.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the Burberry trench coat story is the tightly woven gabardine cloth that sets it apart from all others. Invented by Thomas Burberry in 1879, gabardine revolutionized rain wear. Woven at the Burberry mill, today gabardine is created using many of the traditional techniques that originally distinguished it from other fabrics, alongside new, modern finishing processes that make it more water-repellent than ever before.<\/p>\n

Thomas Burberry created the Tropical Gabardine, an even lighter-weight gabardine made of gossamer threads, making it particularly suited to warmer climates.\u00a0The innovative fabric is created at the Burberry mill in England, drawing on many of the techniques that originally set gabardine apart from other waterproof fabrics. Tropical gabardine is woven for ultra-lightweight protection in mild weather and to ensure the fabric\u2019s breathability when temperatures rise, the fabric has an even lighter weight than traditional cotton gabardine, while maintaining its durability.<\/p>\n

Tropical gabardine trench coats will be offered in a selection of styles from draped front details to A-line skirt silhouettes\u00a0in an iridescent palette revisiting the soft tonic tones found in the Burberry Heritage Archive including antique rose, storm blue, canvas blue, bright olive and taupe. As seen on celebrities such as Kris Wu<\/a> and Laura Bailey during the February runway show.<\/p>\n
