Bernard Chandran’s Spring\/Summer 2017 Collection takes you through a series of Wearable Art that has undertaken different inspirational elements from two different genres of art.<\/p>\n
Backdrop against a black or white cotton canvas, the three-dimensional \u2018wearable art\u2019 collection bears resemblance of the Japanese art of the Edo period with its sentimental landscape of mountains, nature, cherry blossoms and the agrarian Japanese society whilst juxtaposed alongside a profound modern art of abstract expressionism of the 50s with odd angles and shapes on flat planes and strong linear. Together, they outlined a powerful influence on the imagery and aesthetic approaches.<\/p>\n
The collection is nothing short in the aesthetics in terms of craftsmanship with intricate details such as rich embellishments, hand-worked embroidery and luxury crystal beadworks on the pieces of wearable art. The outlines of simple yet edgy cuts of the bustier dresses, bomber tops are accompanied by a cohesive colour palette that depicts a sense of lightness that brings forth the spirit of spring and summer.<\/p>\n\r\n
