{"id":13573,"date":"2016-02-17T09:00:44","date_gmt":"2016-02-17T01:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/?p=13573"},"modified":"2016-09-11T21:28:47","modified_gmt":"2016-09-11T13:28:47","slug":"the-benefits-and-importance-of-eating-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/diet-nutrition\/the-benefits-and-importance-of-eating-breakfast\/","title":{"rendered":"The Benefits and Importance of Eating Breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new study published in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ajcn.nutrition.org\/content\/early\/2016\/02\/10\/ajcn.115.122044\" target=\"_blank\">American Journal of Clinical Nutrition<\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>has found that eating breakfast could help obese people improve their health by prompting them to become more active.<\/p>\n<p>The study, carried out by researchers at the University of Bath, UK, looked at a possible link between breakfast, body weight and health and builds on previous research as part of the three-year BBSRC-funded &#8216;Bath Breakfast Project&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>In this new study, researchers from the University&#8217;s Department for Health split 23 participants aged 21- 60 into two groups, \u2018breakfasting&#8217; and &#8216;fasting&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers asked the breakfasting group to eat at least 700 calories by 11 am for a six-week period. For example, if weight loss is the key there is little to suggest that just having breakfast or skipping it will matter. However, based on other markers of a healthy lifestyle, like being more active or controlling blood sugar levels, then there&#8217;s evidence that breakfast may help.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Lead author on the study, Dr Enhad Chowdhury, also cautioned that, &#8220;It is important to bear in mind that not everybody responds in the same way to breakfast and that not all breakfasts are equal.
