The Story Behind the Reverso<\/strong><\/p>\n

What does Reverso truly mean?<\/em> Born on the polo fields of the 1930s, it was an elegant solution to a very practical problem. While travelling in India in 1930, Jaeger-LeCoultre dealer C\u00e9sar de Trey met a polo-playing British officer who complained about watch crystals shattering during matches. Back in Switzerland, de Trey collaborated with case-maker Alfred Chauvot, who in 1931 patented a case that could slide in its frame and flip completely over, shielding the dial from impact. De Trey then paired this ingenious case with Jaeger-LeCoultre\u2019s in-house movement, and the very first Reverso was brought to life at the maison\u2019s workshop.<\/p>\n

The final stop is a sensory indulgence: the 1931 Caf\u00e9<\/strong>, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Named for the Reverso\u2019s birth year, this intimate space features creations by acclaimed Parisian chef Nina M\u00e9tayer, inspired by the Vall\u00e9e de Joux. Each pastry and beverage is layered with flavour, history, and artistry \u2014 a delicious reflection of the maison\u2019s own approach to watchmaking.<\/p>\n

Leaving the boutique, with coffee and desserts still lingering warmly on my palate, we realized this was far more than a mere visit to a timepiece boutique. It was an immersion into the intricate and exquisite world of watchmaking \u2014 where time is not only measured, but savoured, touched, and remembered.<\/p>\n
