In a powerful demonstration of how fashion can drive social change, UNIQLO Malaysia<\/strong> has donated more than 10,200 pieces of pre-loved clothing<\/strong> to support nearly 2,000 refugees<\/strong> living in Malaysia. Now in its seventh year<\/strong>, the initiative is part of the global RE.UNIQLO programme<\/strong>, developed in partnership with UNHCR<\/strong> (the UN refugee agency), underscoring the brand\u2019s deepening commitment to circular fashion and social responsibility.<\/p>\n

Held from 30 June to 4 July 2025<\/strong> at the UNHCR Malaysia headquarters, the donation event was supported by volunteers from Fast Retailing<\/strong>, UNIQLO\u2019s parent company, as well as key partners including NTT Data, PKT Logistics, <\/strong>and Ramatex<\/strong> who provided logistics and manpower on-site.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we mark our third year collaborating with UNHCR and our 15th anniversary in Malaysia, this initiative reminds us that something as simple as a clean shirt or a warm jacket can help restore a person\u2019s sense of dignity,\u201d said Dawn Chow, Director of Sustainability and Corporate PR, UNIQLO Malaysia.<\/p>\n

The clothing, all donated by UNIQLO customers via in-store collection points nationwide, serves as more than just a material need. As Louise Aubin, UNHCR Representative, shared:<\/p>\n

RE.UNIQLO: Embroidery Meets Circular Fashion<\/h3>\n

In conjunction with World Refugee Day<\/strong>, UNIQLO introduced an exclusive embroidery collection<\/strong> available at RE.UNIQLO STUDIO<\/strong> from 20 June to 31 December 2025<\/strong>. Designed by Wessam Matouk<\/strong>, a refugee and artist based in Amsterdam, the new motifs symbolise peace, identity, and solidarity\u2014allowing customers to personalise their garments while contributing to a greater cause.<\/p>\n

RE.UNIQLO embodies UNIQLO\u2019s commitment to a circular economy \u2014 reducing fashion waste through reuse, repair, and recycle. Customers can bring worn or damaged LifeWear pieces to stores equipped with RE.UNIQLO STUDIO to extend the garment\u2019s life via embroidery, Sashiko stitching, and in-store repairs.<\/p>\n

As UNIQLO Malaysia celebrates 15 years of redefining everyday wear through its LifeWear philosophy, initiatives like RE.UNIQLO prove that fashion can be more than style\u2014it can be a vehicle for hope, dignity, and sustainability.<\/p>\n
