On the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 4 we have rounded up some of the key foods to include in your diet that could help ward off cancer, as well as promote general health and well-being.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A large study published last month which looked at over 90,000 women found that eating a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/pediatrics.aappublications.org\/content\/early\/2016\/01\/28\/peds.2015-1226\" target=\"_blank\">high-fiber diet<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in early adulthood, which included plenty of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/slimming-weight-loss\/top-15-nutrient-rich-food\/\">fruit and vegetables<\/a><\/strong>, could lower the risk of breast cancer in later life by 12 to 19% compared to those who ate much less or no dietary fiber at all.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-13301 gallery-columns-2 gallery-size-full'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/who-daily-comsuption-of-processed-meat-increases-risk-of-cancer\/attachment\/vege2\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/vege2.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/vege2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/vege2-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/vege2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/love-your-liver-this-festive-season\/attachment\/fruits-82524_960_720\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fruits-82524_960_720.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fruits-82524_960_720.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fruits-82524_960_720-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fruits-82524_960_720-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/fruits-82524_960_720-630x420.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>A 2015 American <a href=\"http:\/\/cancerpreventionresearch.aacrjournals.org\/content\/8\/6\/545\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> also found that fiber can be beneficial, with the study&#8217;s results suggesting that prostate cancer patients can improve their chances of survival by following a <strong>Mediterranean-style diet<\/strong> full of fruit, vegetables and fiber.<\/p>\n<p>And a 2015 Chinese study found that eating <strong>white vegetables<\/strong> such as\u00a0<strong>potatoes, asparagus, chard, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/diet-nutrition\/5-super-health-benefits-of-celery-you-must-know\/\">celery<\/a>, cauliflower, endive and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/diet-nutrition\/leeks-the-perfect-detox-solution\/\">leek<\/a><\/strong>, was associated with a 33% reduction in the risk of developing stomach cancer. The same study also found that eating <strong>fruit\u00a0<\/strong>helped to reduce the risk by 7%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3257\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501.jpg\" alt=\"coffee-cup-1320998-1279x850\" width=\"1279\" height=\"851\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501.jpg 1279w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501-696x463.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501-1068x711.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/coffee-cup-1320998-1279x8501-631x420.jpg 631w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1279px) 100vw, 1279px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Enjoying a daily <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pamper.my\/news\/health\/drink-coffee-regularly-may-help-colon-cancer-patients\/\">coffee<\/a><\/strong> could help as well, with numerous studies showing the health benefits of drinking your morning cup of joe. A 2015 <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/cncr.28990\/full\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> of 1000 colon cancer patients found that coffee lovers who drank four or more cups of coffee a day\u00a0were 42% less likely to have their cancer return than non-coffee drinkers, and 34% less likely to die from cancer or any other cause.
