The KL Journal Hotel<\/strong> launched recently in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is a new concept boutique hotel in town designed with a modern retro vibe, and catered for a new generation of independent travellers. It also houses a casual bistro called Bounty<\/strong>, managed by Hooked Hospitality, and a creative communal area for work and play, called Workers\u2019 Union.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Esteemed guests, members of the media and close friends and family joined Director Kenny Tai, Hooked Hospitality Director Colin Chung, and Bounty\u2019s Head Chef, Logan Lopez,<\/strong> as they celebrated the launch with an evening cocktail party.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to create a hotel that fills a gap in the local market for travellers who are not looking for a cookie cutter experience found in most international chain hotels. Who want to stay in a place with a little more character but at the same time don\u2019t want to compromise on the quality standards they are customised to<\/em>,\u201d said Kenny Tai, Director of Beremi Holdings, the niche property developer of The KL Journal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what we hope to deliver. Our aim has been to create a space with a distinct identity but without losing sight of the important essentials \u2014 a balance of individual style, good design, comfort, convenience and value.<\/strong> What we like to describe as affordable luxury, a category that has increasing appeal for millennial travellers today,<\/em>\u201d Tai explained.<\/p>\n

\"KL<\/a>Held at Workers\u2019 Union, guests were treated to great cocktails throughout the night, mixed by acclaimed mixologist, Shawn Chong<\/strong>. He prepared special cocktails for the launch, a whiskey-based cocktail named, Dusky Daisyand a gin-based concoction calledKL Headline.<\/p>\n

\"KL<\/a>Bounty provided an assortment of canap\u00e9s, while guests were entertained by the funky sounds of DJ Blastique<\/strong>. The night also featured the illusionist, Edison Lim, who captivated the crowd with his talents.<\/p>\n

\"KL<\/a>The launch was in conjunction with a photo exhibition by Che\u2019 Ahmad Azhar, a renowned local street photographer. As part of his collection named, \u2018Walk Of Life\u2019, the photos are also featured as photo walls in the various rooms of the hotel.<\/p>\n

\"KL<\/a>The 112 rooms in the hotel are relatively spacious for a city hotel and are kept simple in a soft neutral palette. They all feature floor-to-ceiling windows, ergonomic mattresses, high thread-count sheets, a power shower and great plugged-in connectivity for all mobile devices, wireless Bluetooth connection to a high quality audio stereo system and 40 inch flat screen TVs with HDMI cables and USB charge ports. On offer are king and twin deluxe rooms plus eight designer corner suites. All rooms feature inspiring black and white portraits of KL street life and architecture; specially commissioned by The KL Journal.<\/p>\n
