On the Valentine’s day, Coach debuted Stuart Vevers\u2019 Fall 2022 collection with a live runway show in New York City from \u201cSomewhere in America\u201d, an imagined Coach neighbourhood. The show evoked familiar feelings of home and nostalgia for the shared experiences and American stories that connect us.<\/p>\n
Fall unveiled the next chapter of Vevers\u2019 vision of American heritage, reenergised with the optimism and attitude of the next generation. Introducing quintessential Coach pieces like shearling and leather outerwear contrasted with romantic lace and crocheted dresses, pops of neon, and leather ready-to-wear inspired by leather bars of the 70s, the collection celebrated the role the house continues to play in shaping the legacy of American style. Referencing Bonnie Cashin, Coach\u2019s first head designer, Vevers presented archival outerwear reimagined in shearling and an update of Coach\u2019s Sling bag from 1964. In addition, Fall debuted pieces created in collaboration with graffiti artists Mint&Serf printed with the duo\u2019s raw, expressive artworks.<\/p>\n
Held at Basketball City on New York\u2019s Lower East Side on Valentine\u2019s Day, the runway presentation took place within an imagined American neighborhood envisioned in the house\u2019s heritage color palette and set against a soundtrack of 70s romance remixed with 90s grunge. Featuring set pieces designed to elicit the audience\u2019s memories of American towns and choreographed vignettes that depicted the daily lives of the characters who live in this town, the experience referenced the stories that define our collective imagination while celebrating the way the next generation is rewriting these stories for today.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy collections often begin with a feeling, and for Fall, the feeling was love,\u201d said Vevers. \u201cTo express this, the collection explores tensions between romance and toughness to reinvestigate Coach heritage. I liked the idea of creating a nostalgic world somewhere in America seen through a widescreen lens, mixing the energy of today with the nostalgia for pop culture that has always inspired me.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Fall 2022 show is followed with a series of Coach TV shorts made in collaboration with Amber Schaefer and starring Megan Thee Stallion, Rickey Thompson, Noah Beck and more of the Coach Family. Coach also collaborated with Marquee Marauders Club to create a series of limited-edition toy figurines inspired by the Coach Family and their \u201cCoachville\u201d characters.<\/p>\n
