When world-class hair artistry meets homegrown fashion talent, creativity knows no limits. That was precisely the spirit behind East Meets West: The Hair Artistry Unleashed, an immersive showcase by Schwarzkopf Professional and Shiseido Professional that brought together international hairstylists and Malaysia’s brightest fashion designers for an unforgettable artistic experience.
At the heart of the event was the Malaysian Official Designers Association (MODA), championing local creativity on a global-inspired stage where fashion and hair became one powerful visual language.
A Creative Journey Across The Colour Spectrum
Inspired by the fusion of Eastern and Western artistic influences, the showcase unfolded through The Colour Spectrum—a multi-sensory journey expressed through fashion, hair, lighting, movement, and performance.
Each chapter explored the harmony between tradition and innovation, precision and expression, resulting in a captivating display of creativity without borders. As vibrant colours illuminated the runway, every look told a story of transformation, cultural exchange, and artistic evolution.
Malaysian Designers Steal The Spotlight
Through MODA’s collaboration, six celebrated Malaysian designers were invited to create exclusive looks that complemented the hairstylists’ creative visions.
Among the talents featured were Jimmy Wong of Double U by Jimmy Wong, Ellie Lim of EL by Ellie Lim, Oscar Lee of Outdwell, You Sheng of Yuleza, Ashley Wong of Kapas, and Ariff Shukor of Ariff Atelier.
Their designs ranged from sculptural silhouettes and dramatic volumes to fluid, movement-driven creations, transforming each model into a living work of art. Iridescent finishes, architectural details, and striking textures elevated the showcase, proving that Malaysian fashion creativity can stand confidently alongside international artistry.

The showcase reached its crescendo with a dramatic finale featuring fiery crimson tones, glowing hues, and fearless self-expression.
Designers Ashley Wong and Ariff Shukor collaborated with Arjan Bevers, Schwarzkopf Professional’s Global Colour Ambassador, to create visually arresting looks inspired by organic forms and architectural structures. The result was a powerful celebration of individuality, innovation, and creative freedom.
