Tried & Tested: Origins’ Checks And Balances Face Wash, Original Skin Essence Lotion & Renewal Serum

Origins' Checks & Balances Face Wash, Original Skin Essence Lotion & Renewal Serum

We gave you an insight on some of Origins Original Skin™ range earlier so we put both the essence lotion and serum to the test to see if it managed to solve our skin’s quarter life crisis, those late nights definitely made our skin duller and drier.

To give it a more thorough review, we’ve chosen to use the Checks And Balances™ Frothy Face Wash for our cleansing step before going in with the essence lotion and renewal serum from the Original Skin™ range.

Disclaimer: The 3 Origins products were used with other brands’ moisturizers and toners hence results will differ if the complete range was used. Individual results may vary.

Origins Checks And Balances™ Frothy Face Wash

CHECKS AND BALANCES™ FROTHY FACIAL WASHI used a small amount and lather it up with water before massaging it on my face. After washing it off my skin feels clean from the inside out without tightness. It also cleared up a bit of the redness around my nose area and reduce the oiliness of my T-zone.

Origins Original Skin™ Essence Lotion with Dual-Ferment Complex

Origins Original Skin™ Essence Lotion with Dual-Ferment Complex

At first, the essence feels a bit goopy but once I patted it onto my skin, it absorbed fast and my skin became smoother. There’s a slight peachy scent to it which is refreshing too. There are two ways to use this essence lotion, you can use a cotton pad to pat it onto your skin or, just pour it in your palm and rub your hands together before patting it on. I prefer the latter because I know every bit of it will be on my skin as using a cotton, it tends to absorb more product but leaves less for your skin.

Origins Original Skin™ Renewal Serum with Willowherb

Origins Original Skin™ Renewal Serum with WillowherbThis serum is said to brighten, smoothen your skin and shrink your pores at the same time. For this, I used this amount and rubbed my fingers together before patting it on my face. I think it did help to brighten my skin and made it smoother but my pores still looked the same. It’s fast-absorbent and doesn’t feel sticky like other serums. Don’t forget to use a moisturizer to seal all the goodness into your skin.

Our Verdict

There’s a slight fragrance to the Original Skin™ products which I can accept since it disappears after applying it but some might not like the peachy scent. My skin did look brighter and hydrated after using this trio together for a week. My T-zone area was less oily than usual too. As for my blackheads and whiteheads, at a glimpse, there was no difference but my nose area was smoother and less redness. I would recommend the Checks And Balances™ Frothy Face Wash and Original Skin™ Essence Lotion for someone with combination skin like mine.

Origins Checks and Balances™ Frothy Face Wash (RM105, 150ml), Original Skin™ Essence Lotion with Dual Ferment Complex (RM140, 150ml), and Original Skin™ Renewal Serum with Willowherb (RM180, 50ml) are available at all Origins retail stores and department stores.
