Located in the neighbourhood of Sri Hartamas, Nooks by Baker Dave is a bakery turned café founded by ex-assistant director David Wong.

Founded in 2012, David has since grown his bakery Baker Dave to Nooks by Baker Dave, a café specialises in serving a variety of homemade food such as pasta, sandwiches, burger, toast and more.

Nooks by Baker Dave is also a great place to hang out and grab a cuppa joe if you are happen to be in Sri Hartamas Shopping Centre, as the café is near the mall and it is easily accessible when you enter Plaza Damas through the linked bridge.

Since the café is opened at 8.00AM in the morning, it also makes a good place for breakfast and coffee to help stifle the yawns before a busy day at the office.

Nooks (which means corner), has two variety seating areas – the indoor and outdoor. As its name suggest, the seats and table are placed at the corner so that customer can have their own space.

nooks-pamper-my-8nooks-pamper-my-10nooks-pamper-my-9David has crafted a compact menu of fulfilling meals, starting from something as simple as Pumpkin Soup (RM 11.90), Belgian waffles such as Fruity (RM 21.90), to classic French toast Nooks French Toast (RM 16.00).

nooks-pamper-my-13nooks-pamper-my-14I thoroughly enjoyed the toast as it is something that I have never tasted before. Unlike the usual French toast, Nooks French Toast was homemade from scratch, coated with cereal and berry sauce, with a local spin by serving gula Melaka at the side as a dipping sauce.

nooks-pamper-my-15nooks-pamper-my-17nooks-pamper-my-16Nooks provided quite a number of solid choices for single offerings. The Spicy Carbonara (RM 19.90) comes with spicy cream sauce, turkey ham/chicken ham, shitake mushroom, cheese, and freshly cracked egg yolk. A wonderful combination of Asian and Western flavours, the pasta noodles were soaked in their exquisite cream sauce with turmeric and curry blend.

nooks-pamper-my-18nooks-pamper-my-19For the burger lovers, Beef Brisket Sandwich (RM 16.90) is a popular choice. It comprises slow cooked beef brisket, caramelised onion, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, salad green and crackers. People often have the misconception that burger is fattening. In this case, the Beef Brisket Sandwich is nothing but tasty, a hearty burger that doesn’t skimp on taste.

nooks-pamper-my-20Nooks by Baker Dave also serves a variety of Asian delights. I personally enjoyed the Thai Chicken (RM 16.90) – rice with deep fried chicken, special homemade Thai sauce and appetising salad.

nooks-pamper-my-21nooks-pamper-my-22If you want to avoid rice or noodle, Grilled Chicken with Golden Egg or Citrus Mesclun Salad (RM 15.90) should satisfy your taste buds. The salad combines bunch of healthy leafy greens tossed in orange vinaigrette which is made in-house every day.

nooks-pamper-my-25nooks-pamper-my-26Milkshakes: Peanut Butter (RM 19.00) and Rose Milk (RM 19.00). The Peanut butter is thick and nutty without being cloying. The Rose Milk was delicious too, syrup and milk go hand-in-hand, perfect as a lighter alternative to dessert.

nooks-pamper-my-27What is a café in 2016 without serving cakes? Nooks By Baker Dave serves a wide range of desserts. I had Yam (RM 13.00) and Pink Guava & Strawberry Cheesecake (RM 15.00). The cakes were heavenly, not overly sweet but still hits the spot.

nooks-pamper-my-28nooks-pamper-my-30nooks-pamper-my-29Overall, Nooks by Baker Dave is a rather pleasant place for a lazy weekend breakfast in this otherwise overly fast paced city of Kuala Lumpur. Many thanks to David for having us here.

PS: We were told that the price will be updated on January, so stay tuned for the new menu.
