There is something rather appealing about staying somewhere that has lived several lives before you arrived.

Step Inside The New Ipoh House Collection
At the heart of the refresh is the newly introduced Ipoh House Collection, bringing three suites and two deluxe rooms into one of the resort’s most central heritage buildings.
Originally relocated from Ipoh, Perak, the Ipoh House has long served as Temple Tree’s lobby. Inside, contemporary interiors bring a sense of modern comfort to the Ipoh House without taking away from its heritage charm.
The three suites — Ying, Lian and Yu — each take their cues from elements of nature and Chinese cultural symbolism. Lian draws on the beauty of florals, while Yu reflects the quiet strength of trees. Bespoke wallpapers give each space its own visual identity without overshadowing the heritage setting.
For something lighter and airier, the Ming I and Ming II Deluxe Rooms take their names from the Chinese word for “brightness”. Together, the five new spaces add another layer to Temple Tree’s accommodation offering. Here, heritage does not feel preserved behind glass, but lived in.
A Softer Welcome
The first few minutes of a holiday can set the tone for everything that follows. Temple Tree is giving those moments a makeover, too.
The lobby is getting a more relaxed makeover with the new Reception Café. In place of the usual check-in counter, guests can settle in over freshly brewed coffee and craft cakes, with a patisserie counter at the heart of the space.
It changes the mood from the moment guests arrive. Check-in becomes less of a formality and more of an opportunity to pause, have a coffee and settle in. And really, isn’t that how a holiday should begin?
Paloh Comes Alive After Dark
As twilight settles in, Paloh Restaurant transforms into Paloh After Dark, taking the resort’s all-day dining space into a more intimate, lounge-style setting designed for lingering. The mood is relaxed, the flavours become richer and the menu takes a more social approach, with dishes created to be shared over long conversations.
The new menu brings together Heritage Favourites, Straits Classics and curated pairings, with plenty of familiar Malaysian flavours to explore. There’s Straits Seafood Platter, Striploin Steak Percik, Ikan Asam Pedas and Lamb Masala Curry, alongside more playful takes such as Spaghetti Lemak Prawn and the Rendang Cheeseburger.
Complimenting the dishes are the drinks. The Paloh Margarita and Ipoh Martini join signature cocktail carafes designed for sharing, giving the evening another reason to stretch well beyond dinner.
In other words, this is not a restaurant to rush through. Come hungry, order generously and let the evening unfold.
More To Discover At Langkawi
Of course, no Langkawi escape is complete without some Vitamin Sea.
The new Temple Tree Beach Experience takes guests away from the resort for a day at Pantai Kok, offering a relaxed seaside escape for RM250 nett for two persons. Return transfers, sun deck access and a thoughtfully prepared beach bag are included, complete with towels, mineral water, sunscreen and other beach-day essentials.
The idea is refreshingly simple: swim, walk along the beach, stretch out on the sand or simply sit back and take in Langkawi’s coastal landscape. For the more active, water biking, stand-up paddleboarding, beach tennis and volleyball are also available at an additional charge, subject to availability and weather conditions.
And when the sun goes down, there is still more of Langkawi to discover.
Guests can continue the evening with a visit to Dream Forest Langkawi, and experience the island from a different perspective. It makes for an appealing contrast to a day spent by the sea: from salt air and sunshine to an immersive nighttime experience surrounded by the island’s tropical landscape.
A New Chapter Is Unfolding
There is also more in the pipeline. Temple Tree plans to introduce a small indoor gym next year, adding a practical wellness element to the resort without disrupting its intimate, residential character.
It feels like a fitting addition. After all, the resort has never been about packing a holiday with endless facilities. Its appeal lies in the company of old houses, tropical greenery, good food and plenty of space to slow down.
The resort’s heritage setting also lends itself to intimate celebrations, private buyouts, and wellness retreats. With its restored homes, lush grounds and open communal spaces, Temple Tree offers a welcome change from the usual hotel ballroom or indoor setting.
