In a rare tribute to horological history, Longines brought its 193-year legacy to life in Kuala Lumpur through an exclusive heritage talk session. Daniel Hug, Longines’ Head of Brand Heritage, captivated guests with stories tracing the maison’s journey from its founding in 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, to its present-day innovations.

The evening offered an immersion into nearly two centuries of craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless elegance. Guests were treated to an intimate showcase of vintage museum pieces — from the 1936 Chronograph Flyback to the 1968 Ultra Chron Diver — each a testament to Longines’ pioneering spirit in aviation, timekeeping, and precision sports timing.

A respected authority in horological heritage with over 25 years of expertise, Hug also shared insights into Longines’ meticulous archival work. He highlighted iconic milestones, from precision instruments for aviation legends like Amelia Earhart to the invention of the flyback chronograph and the brand’s pivotal role in advancing sports timing technology.
Beyond its storied past, Longines reaffirmed its modern relevance with innovations such as silicon balance-springs in all automatic movements. Lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and impervious to temperature fluctuations and magnetic fields, these components enhance both precision and longevity — allowing Longines to guarantee these models for five years.

By the end of the evening, guests left not only fascinated by Longines’ illustrious heritage but also inspired by its enduring pursuit of excellence. More than a celebration of watches, the event was a celebration of heritage, elegance, and innovation — values forever embodied by the winged hourglass emblem.
