First opened in 1979 as Club Med’s first resort in Asia, the beachfront property will enter a new chapter while retaining its signature connection to Cherating’s tropical landscape, 80-hectare jungle and coastline.
The upgraded resort is expected to introduce a more sophisticated all-inclusive holiday experience centred around nature and adventure. Five new signature experiences are planned, including the Jungle Express, Jungle Discovery Trails, the Cliffside Challenge, Farm-to-Fork in the Jungle and a Firefly Mangrove Cruise.
Before the closure, guests can revisit Club Med Cherating’s legacy through a series of farewell activities from August and September. Highlights include a nostalgic street market, memory wall, sporting challenges with G.Os, nightly “Top 40 Hits” and a charity auction featuring selected resort memorabilia and furnishings.
The final grand auction will take place on 8 October, with proceeds donated to charity, giving longtime guests an opportunity to take home a piece of Club Med Cherating’s history.
With its transformation designed around a low-density architectural footprint and Club Med’s Happy to Care sustainability philosophy, the resort aims to preserve the surrounding terrain and biodiversity while creating a refreshed tropical escape.
Travellers hoping to experience the original Club Med Cherating before its renovation are encouraged to book their stay ahead of the 11 October closure.
