Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) and Philips Malaysia partnered again this year for the FATCHECK For A Healthy Heart programme, and are jointly calling for entries for the Jom Airfry dan Menang cooking competition. The competition also in support of the World Heart Federation’s annual World Heart Day celebration on September 29, 2016, which seeks to increase awareness on cardiovascular diseases.

Competition Details

The Jom Airfry dan Menang competition is open to all Malaysian families who own any brand of airfryer. Entries must be submitted in teams of two, with all participants aged 12 and above. The team should cook low-fat recipes and heart-friendly meals using the air fryer. The team consist only of family members who are not professional chefs, cooks or have any professional links to the food business or industry.

To enter the Jom Airfry dan Menang competition, participants need to submit their entry via www.fatcheck.my or www.facebook.com/MyFatCheck. The entry should include:

  1. An original recipe of their own creation containing only halal ingredients, cooked using an airfryer of any brand
  2. A photo of the completed dish using the abovementioned recipe
  3. An interesting write-up (not more than 200 words) or video (not longer than two minutes) about their passion for the airfryer
  4. A photo of the team members

The deadline for submission is 14 August 2016. Judging of entries will be based on the healthfulness, creativity and presentation of the finished dish and also the interest value of the write-up or video submitted. All teams submitting an entry will receive a complimentary copy of the ‘Heart-y Meals’ cookbook.

A total of ten teams will then be shortlisted to attend a masterclass workshop on 24 August 2016 with Celebrity Chef Zam and Ms Foong Pui Hing, the Principal Dietitian from IJN, to improve their culinary skills and knowledge on nutrition. All ten teams will take home a gift from the Philips range of kitchen appliances. During the masterclass session, each of the ten teams will also be required to make a video recording of their cooking and pitching – to be shared on social media to garner likes. This will be factored into the judging process for selecting the five finalist teams, who will participate in the Grand Cook-off finale in October 2016.

Wining Prizes

The winning team will receive RM10,000 worth of Philips products whereas the runner-up team receives Philips appliances worth RM7,000 and the 3rd-placed team wins RM5,000 worth of Philips products. Winners will also receive Health Screening Packages from IJN.
