We’ll be celebrating the Lunar New Year and ushering in the Year of the Monkey in less than a month. Time sure does fly! In the lead-up to the auspicious festival, there’ll be plenty to look forward to – new year sales, promotions, hampers, yee sang, reunion dinners and the like.

Red is the auspicious colour for CNY and it continues to be for it symbolises good fortune, energy, prosperity, and happiness. Wear something red especially on the first day.

Buy your shoes before the new year
Did you know it’s bad luck to buy your new pair of shoes after the new year? Suspicions say because the word shoe in Cantonese means rough, or evil in Mandarin, it’s best to avoid buying your shoes during or after the new year.

Look out for this collection for men, women, and children in stores from 21 January 2016. Adidas launches limited editions for CNY
The sportswear giant’s Chinese New Year Collection features limited editions of the D Lillard 2 and D Rose 6 sneakers, inspired by the symbolic nature of this year’s Chinese Zodiac — the “Fire Monkey.” The footwear features custom fire monkey graphics, tonal prints and vivid colour hits. The D Lillard 2 boasts a fanged fire monkey graphic print and red and gold accents, while the D Rose 6 features a fire red graphic printed on black to reveal the aggressive nature of the “Fire Monkey,” alongside gold hits on the eyelets. The designs will be launching globally on February 5 at adidas.com and selected retailers.
Georgia Armani launches beauty pallete
Giorgio Armani Beauty has created a Chinese New Year palette, which is all about skin complexion. Inside the makeup case, which is decorated in China’s signature colors, is a compact powder to enhance your features with a natural sheer. The skin is allowed to breathe and powder is used simply to reveal the skin’s radiance and luminosity.
Two Chinese symbols, representing Fortune and Luck, have been inscribed on the red top. Inside, the outline of a monkey has been imprinted into the illuminating powder.
