Balenciaga has re-opened its store in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, encapsulating the new creative vision of a new era of Balenciaga under the artistic direction of Demna Gvasalia. The new store, 1963 square feet, houses a full compliment of Balenciaga lines, include both women and men ready to wear collections, alongside accessories and eyewear.

This Balenciaga new store is a fusion of the classic and the modern, of the past and the present. The result is a dynamic space, disrupting the conventional language of luxury retail. The architecture contrasts textures that speak simultaneously of the traditional sophistication of haute couture and the industrial environments of the contemporary. High-gloss rosewood, used for walls and display tables, are laid alongside concrete, cast aluminium, and glass. The materials of modernity, they have a rawness alongside their refinement – opposites juxtaposed, with intent to arrest the viewer and excite the senses.

Seating combines industry and luxury, framing tufted leather with Brutalist concrete in a game of contrasts and collage. Mirror panels add depth, alter perceptions: they are layered, the fragments reflecting multiple views. The whole is played out in a restricted palette of grays, of stone and metal.

Store location: LOT 2.44, 2.45 & 2.47 Level 2 Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
