In conjunction with World Sight Day, Bausch and  Lomb Malaysia handed over a cheque worth RM8,880 to Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) at a cheque presentation ceremony yesterday at its headquarters. The fund was raised through its social media campaign “Care for Your Eyes”, which ran from August 11 to September 30, 2015, with aimed at creating awareness of eye health and eye care.

The “Care for Your Eyes” campaign encouraged Facebook users to shoot and post a short video of themselves doing an eye exercise to help stretch the eye muscles, and tag three friends of them to do the same. Bausch and Lomb Malaysia pledged to donate RM5 to MAB for each video posted.

The campaign was a successful one and gained supports from a number of local celebrities such as Malaysia Top Model Amber Chia, Miss Chinese Cosmos SEA 2012 1st runner up Kim Low, Celebrity TV Hosts Belinda Chee and Nadia Heng, Actress Atikah Suhaime, Malaysian singers Diandra Arjunaidi and Joyce Chu, Radio Announcers Cassey Soo and Vivian Liu.

According to Vice President of MAB, Dr. S. Radha Krishnan, MAB is a premier welfare organisation in Malaysia providing services to the blinds, includes educational programmes, vocational training, placement services etc. MAB constantly work towards greater and greater public awareness for the blind people to ensure they can integrate into society and have better quality of life.
